Youth Group Information
The Youth Groups of Northern Hills Synagogue have combined with those of Congregation Ohav Shalom to provide a larger number of Jewish friends for our children at every age range. The youth groups are Chaverim (Grades K-2), Katan (Grades 3-5), Kadima (Grades 6-8), and United Synagogue Youth-USY (Grades 9-12). These groups provide our young people with an opportunity to socialize, make new friends through contacts with other youth groups in and outside of Cincinnati, and take part in a wide variety of social, cultural, and religious activities. It is also a wonderful opportunity for our congregation's youth to take on leadership roles and responsibilities. Chaverim (Kindergarten - 2nd Grade)We will be planning several events this year for children in K-2nd grade. Children will have the opportunity to meet new friends and participate in some fun activities around the city. Katan (3rd - 5th Grade)Katan focuses largely on social development, giving children an opportunity to form Jewish friendships in relaxed, fun environments. Your child's participation in Katan is important to us. It serves as an early step towards interest and active involvement in Kadima and USY. Kadima (6th - 8th Grade)In Kadima, middle school students have a chance to develop their leadership skills as they prepare for their lives as Jewish teenagers. They decide on, help organize, and participate in all kinds of exciting programs. Kadima-niks also have opportunities to participate in citywide and regional events. North Cincy USY (9th - 12th Grades)USY members plan and run their own exciting and meaningful local programs, including social events and Social Action/Tikkun Olam (SA/TO) activities. They also have the opportunity to participate in citywide, regional and even international programs, building strong Jewish bonds that can stay with them as they begin their adult lives.
